birds can see FOUR colurs (you can only see three). they see Red, Green, Blue (like you do) but they ALSO see Ultraviolet!

and many bird's feathers have patterns in ultraviolet that you can't see! like budgie's legs are ultra-violet and parakeet's cheek patches are ultra-violet too!

that is one reason i got an ultra-violet lamp for my cockatiel. i don't turn it on every day, but when i do she gives me a happy "kvek!" sound and she goes in her cage more often when the lamp is on.
