Default I took my dog to the vet opthamologist, and she has a cataract with another...

...developing.? Treatment is approximately $4,000 plus when all is said and done. She is only 5 and I'm overwhelmed right now by the cost of this treatment. Has anybody gone thru anything similar and what did you do? Thanks.

I had an elderly shih tzu with cataracts. The dog lived a fine, long life. He was almost 8-9 when his started forming, but he did fine until he died of old age. Are you sure the $4000 treatment would even be a "sure" success? Would you be spending money on something that might not solve the problem anyway? Not every thing has to be treated. These cause no pain, usually do not result in total blindness, and do not affect life expectancy.
