Is retinitis pigmentosa curable throught alternate medical treatments?

Hi.. Could anyone tel me if there is any known treatment for retinitis pigmentosa. This is because i came across a website and some press clips which claims that acupuncture can treat this disease..If anyone with some knowledge please give some advise on what website claims and about the press clips..

Is this treatment done in western countries?
