If you can go 24 hours without the contacts, try that and see if it clears up. If so, call the office and see if you can move up the appt on an emergency basis - contacts bothering and you need to see!
With pink eye, you have the symptoms you described, but you should get a more goopy discharge. Oftentimes, after you have slept this discharge will "glue" your eye shut. If you suspect pink eye, the easy home remedy my mom always used is milk. You warm the milk, soak a cloth with it, and put it on the eye applying firm, but not hard pressure. I use it too, and it works amazingly well. If you have access to breast milk, that works even better.
Hope it clears soon. Pink-eye, if it is that, is highly contagious. Just wash hands and don't touch the eye.
