Default What if it's pink eye??

My two year old's eye is red (around it, and in the white of his eye). He keeps rubbing it, so i assume it's bothering him. There is a yellowish discharge that i keep removing with a warm washcloth. I've looked it up, and all signs point to pink-eye.
I made him a 2 o'clock appt tomorrow with the pediatrician. Is it okay for him to wait that long or do i need to take him to urgent care instead??

Thanks!
