Default how long does it take for pink eye to go away if you have eye drops?

i went to the doctor today, he told me i had pink eye, perscribed medicine. I need to take it 3 times a day, 1 drop in each eye
any idea when it will go away? Today's saturday, and i have an exam monday.. not sure they'll let me go if i have it since it's pretty contagious

it should go away in about a week...once you start using the drops though, you should be non-contagious in a day or two.

It really depends on which version you have. I had it about 6 months ago. They looked at it and gave me drops. They said theres 2 kinds, one that goes away with drops, one that doesnt. If you get the viral one then it takes like a week, with or without drops. But in my case, I believe they said I had strep in my eye, and with drops it went away in less then 2 days. Mine was the non viral one, so the drops killed it. It just depends on which version you have.

I am surprise your doctor did not give you an excuse not to go to school for 5-7 days. This is very contagious.

You are not contagious after 24 hours on an antibiotic ointment or drops. By Monday, you will feel much better and the redness will hardly be noticed. You will probably still have the sticky drainage in the mornings, but a warm, wet washcloth will remove that.
