Pink eye is highly contagious so, yes it must be treated with prescription medicated drops. If you think you have pink eye, go see your doctor.

You should, because it will help your eye feel better, help it heal faster and help prevent it from spreading to others. If you don't treat it the problem could worsen and affect other parts of your eyes

Yes. Those meant specifically for pink eye. If you do not, the infection will worsen and you can be looking at bigger problems.

depends on the type of "pink eye".

viral pink eye...there is not "drop" that helps (although some offices advocate a 1 time betadine treatment...you have to do it a certain way, so dont do this yourself)

bacterial pink eye: antibiotics

inflammatory pink eye: steroids or no treatment

allergic pink eye: steroids or antihistamines...

you really need an eye doc`tor to help you sort this out

I just got over having pink eye and I had to get antibiotic eye drops. I really think it depends on if hte pink eye is caused by a virus, bacteria or sometimes allergies. Better to be safe than sorry, go to the doctor. It is also very contagious.

Absolutely. My two daughters had pink eye, and then I came down with it. My eye got extrememly goopy and red, and then started to really hurt. I ended up with prescription eye drops, and within a day or two I was feeling better, and then after about 7 or 8 days I was totally in the clear...

Usually. If it is bacterial, most definately, if it is viral, maybe if it is allergies, it depends. Your docotr will know which is which and what to do!
