Default Does my baby have pink eye or something else?

My 8 month old's eye is having issues. He's got yellow puss coming out of it. The eye itself is bloodshot and red. And Also, the upper eyelid is red, as well as all below it. His eyes have been crusted shut all day. I clean it out and its bad again within the hour, especially if he cries, it gets glued shut.
This happened a month ago and lasted 2 days. A week later my daughter got it for three days. I had antibiotic drops that the pediatrician gave me once before and used them the whole time. I saw the doc shortly after it was gone and she gave me a refill of a stronger dose. I'm using that now. Does this sound like pink eye? Could it be something else? If it is pink eye, is it possible to have come back? Or maybe wasn't gone all the way? Is it possible that its just an extention of a cold? Maybe even from the gas heater and space heaters running? Any advice and information is well appreciated!!! Thanks
I just called the pediatrician and he's out of town until monday. The nurse said that it's possible that its an extension of the cold, and he does have one. Yes, the snotty is green.
If this is pink eye, or any kind of infection in his eye, I have a question. I'm already using the medication they gave me last time...what would going to the doctor eve accomplish if i already have the meds?
The first bottle of antibacterial eye drops the doctor gave me was to clear up boogers due to heaters causing congestion in both of my kids eyes.
The second bottle was to clear up pink eye, as the first bottle didnt fully do the trick. The second bottle worked like a charm the first time they got "pink eye" to finish cleaning things up. The doctor did not actually see the red eyes, because by the time i got them in, it was gone, it only lasted two days.

Perhaps it's not the same thing that the doctor prescribed the meds for...in which case it may not do any good. If the doctor is out of town, is there another doctor taking his/her patients while they are gone? If not..I would suggest a visit to another pediatrician or the local clinc or hospital. This is a BABY we are talking about. I do not understand why people take any chances with small babies. Before you put anything into or onto a child you should know that it is the correct thing for that condition. Seek professional help for your child asap.

It sounds like pink eye to me. Cold like symptoms are common. When it went through my family I did a lot of research. Wash the pillowcase, change them daily if you have too until the infection has been gone for awhile. Our daughter wasn't feeling well with cold like symptoms so she slept in our bed, her pink eye went away on it's own, mine and my husband's took antibiotics.
