Make sure you don't have lactose intolerance on top of the IBS. Lactose is in all milk & cheese products. In order to find out, either cut out all milk/lactose for two weeks to see if the IBS improves. If it does, start taking Lactaid enzyme (available in drug store) every time you eat dairy or anything with lactose in it.
There is a test the doctor can do to make sure you are not sensitive to gluten (found in grains). In other words, make sure it is ONLY IBS that you have and not any other complicating condition.
If you ONLY have IBS, then get thee to a registered Dietician that can tell you which foods you must stay away from if you have IBS.
