Advice for nearsighted boyfriend
I'm wanting to talk my boyfriend into getting lasik. He's very nearsighted, his last prescription was around -22.0. I think theres some astigmatism too but I'm not sure. Poor guy has to crawl around and grope for his glasses if he knocks them off the nightstand in the morning and he can barely walk across a room without them.
Why do want him to do this? I don't want him to do this for me. I don't care if he wears glasses. But he had an accident recently that has me wanting to nudge him toward lasik. Last week he went for a walk on some trails at a park by himself. At some point he tripped and fell down a hill. Some scrapes and bruises, no big deal...except that his glasses were knocked off in the process. Now if he has problems finding them on the bedroom floor, losing them in woods is way worse. He tried to find them but once they are more than a few inches away from him he's in trouble. Anyway, he couldn't find his glasses. To make things even worse, he got lost trying to find his way back to the parking lot where his car and cell phone were. The only lucky break he got was when a couple of nice ladies saw him stumbling around and guided him back. Once he had his cell he called me and I came to his rescue. Needless to say he was scared silly, despite his best efforts to hide that from me.
I've tried to talk about this with him so i can work the lasik thing into the conversation but he quickly changes the subject. I don't want to be the pushy girlfriend and i know the male ego can be a fragile thing and I know I'm not his mother or anything, but it broke my heart to see him that helpless.
Any advice on how to broach the subject?
