I have not had this surgery, but I work in Outpatient Surgery on days the surgeon does cataract removal. This past week, a guy in his 40s had one removed. He was not put to sleep, they just medicated him with topical meds to numb it up and used conscious sedation. When he came out of surgery, he did not have any pain at all. His eye was bandaged with a patch and shield to keep on his eye until the next day when he was to see the doctor. He was not given any pain meds at discharge to home. He was told to take Tylenol or Advil if he had any pain. So, it really is not a bad surgery. No need to worry. Let me know how it goes for you.
