Default DO styes usually cause your upper eyelid to get hugely swollen?

I woke up yesterday and my eye was half swollen and felt like someone had punched me in the eye. When I woke up today, it was worse> I saw the military doc and she said that it was PROBABLY a stye. So I'm not sure if that is actually what it is.
