Lasik Story
Hi All,
I've been searching out forums and info since my surgery about a month ago.
I figured I share my story for those who are still researching Lasik.
I had the wave front, intralse, lasik done on 5/9/2008.
I was given a Xanax prior to surgery and told to go to sleep
for a few hours following, the Xanax helped with that.
Immediately following the surgery, my eyes were very watery and
burned when I tried to open them. When I got up 3 or 4 hours later
they felt alot better.
The next day I had great vision in one eye and blurry in the other(left).
I had a follow up with a different Dr. than did the surgery.
He didn't have much to say. He looked in my eyes and said
"the flaps look good", he was about to leave when I mentioned the
blurry eye, and asked if I could expect improvement. His reply was,
"there should be improvement in 3-5 days, not much after that"
Needless to say that was quite distressing and contrary to alot of
stuff I had been reading. I called and got an appt. with my surgeon,
it was 1 week post op. When I told him of the blurry vision, he said,
"the right(good) eye is 20/20 and the left is 20/25, you can't expect better than that". I again complained about blurriness. He looked in the eye and claimed there is a little fluid under the flap, it will clear up.
Went back for my next appt. 3 weeks later and was told I had a slight
astigmatism and severe dry eye.(I had been using the tera eye drops, just
about hourly" So now I put in drops almost constantly, while I wait for my next appt. in another 3 weeks. I guess time will tell.
I've been using Systane which is what the Dr. gave me. If anyone has a recommendation for a longer lasting drop, I'd appreciate that.
Thanks,
George
