Default Is "Color Blindness" a common complication of LASIK?

I read that online and I wanna know if it's true. I'm want to have LASIK. I'm myopic of about -7 in both eyes and with mild astigmatism and I'm 25 years old guy. Should I got for it? Is "Color Blindness" a real common complication of LASIK? Thanks!

No i have never heard that. I do not think that is true. Get the lasiks! I did.
Best places to go are TLC laser vision centers. All over the US. That is where i went and tiger woods did too.

I had mine done at the one in MA.
Surgery took only 5-10 min and i could see perfectly afterwards! Right away! Everything was grayish and cloudy for the first day( which they told me would happen) but then the next day everything was perfect and I just had to use some RX drops for a few weeks.
i went from 20/400 vision to 20/15 (better than perfect).
I was 26 (last year) when i had it done.

No, color blindness is a dysfunction of the rods and cones in the retina...LASIK doesn't do anything to the retina...only the cornea. See the below article...all the risks and complications are listed in there.

Hubby had LASIK...no color changes. I had PRK...no color changes.

I worked in an Ophthalmology practice that performed LASIK in their own surgical center and I have never heard of color blindness as being a side effect of the procedure. Color blindness is generally an inherited condition and is most predominant in males.

Side effects of LASIK include dry eyes (which is why they test your eyes' tear production BEFORE the surgery. Those with eyes that are very dry to begin with are not considered to be good candidates for LASIK), problems with glare and halos, especially at night. It is also possible you may need an enhancement to "touch up the surgery" if the first one did not take with the success they were hoping for.

But to the best of my knowledge, color blindness is not a post-op side effect.

I have never heard of that at all, and the Docotr I work for does pre and post op for many laser surgery patients. We really like Dr. Maloney's we site from Los Angeles, CA, he has a great best selling book out there and I think he just made it available online! He has people that will answer your wuestions and you can get a REAL answer from an expert! They will even answer emails I think. I do not work for Dr. Maloney, we just do pre and post op services for him becuase we have a lto of his patients in our area.

Hi!

My optometrist considers me to be an excellent candidate for refractive surgery (28 years of age, -4.5 and stable for 15 months, by far sufficient corneal thickness and perfect overall health) but pointed that my pupils are h-u-g-e.
Apparently, “traditional” laser eye surgery patients with large pupils often times suffer from reduced night vision due to extensive glare. Which one of the current laser eye procedures, namely Lasik, PRK, Lasek and Custom Lasik do you think is most beneficial to address my large pupil size?
Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

Now, I have yet another question
I have a mild red-green color deficiency which is hereditary in nature.
After starring at the Ishihara plates for 15-30 seconds on average, I can decipher roughly 60-70% of them. Variation in the distance of the plates from my eyes (2 ft seems best-fit) and slightly tilting the plates sideways gives me a much better shot when taking the Ishihara test.
Now, clearly there is no cure for hereditary color blindness - BUT at the same time I haven’t given up hope that laser eye surgery may indirectly alleviate my deficiency. For example, would laser surgery potentially alter the cornea to such an extend that more light will be spread onto the retina at angels previously not achieved?
Again, your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks a million!
