Default Is there any way that we could do to reduce eyeglasses' power?

i've been wearing glasses for 6 years now. i have long sighting problems, and my glasses is about 300 for both eyes. any tips on how i could reduce the power (excluding surgery!!). i heard not being too dependant on glasses can help you reduce the power, is this true? any eating or supplement or living habits? thanks!
